René Sens, Poet and Photographer, Presents His Exhibition “Harmony” in September 2024
Harmony reflects the sensual and romantic universe of the artist. In his poetry, René Sens expresses desire, sensuality, love, and nostalgia. The exhibition features a series of 18 poems illustrated by self-portraits. A central work is also highlighted: a linocut entirely created by the artist, titled “I Want to Feel You Live.”
The emotion of desire is particularly emphasized in his work, present both in his poetry and photography. According to him, desire is an emotion too often silenced; it is sexualized without taking the time to see the beauty hidden within. Experiencing desire is an inspiration with an immensely rich palette. The sensations and emotions it evokes are at the very heart of this exhibition’s theme and his artistic practice.
Take the time to look beyond the taboos ingrained in our society in order to appreciate the warmth, the words, the comfort, and all other emotions this work can evoke. When we learn to see beyond sexualization, we become receptive to the fact that sensuality and desire are sources of comfort as well as self-love and love for others.
“Having always been deeply moved by the intensity of emotions evoked by words and photographs, I embarked on these two fields at a young age and made them my refuge. What I wish for is that everyone can find themselves in my writings, that my words soothe and accompany your hearts.”
Harmony is an expression of passion and a deep desire to convey tenderness and freedom through these illustrated poems. Sensual poetry paired with emotional self-portraits — their fusion creates Harmony.
